Dianne Ainsworth

February 07, 1947 to February 28, 2026

Dianne Lynn Ainsworth, 79, of Fort Gratiot, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, February 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband and four children.

She was born February 7, 1947 in Port Huron to the late George and Marjorie Sheffer. She met the love of her life, William J. Ainsworth and they were married on September 11, 1965 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. Dianne and Bill shared an extraordinary bond and very special type of love - the kind that people hope for their entire lives. Their joy, friendship, and devotion to one another for the past 60 years created the foundation for a truly wonderful family.

Dianne was the epitome of love and kindness. She selflessly raised her children and filled their home with warmth, laughter, and constant support. Genuinely and infectiously happy, Dianne’s personality drew people in. Her willingness to open her arms, her heart, and her home to so many will be remembered not only by her family, but by her entire community. As kind and gentle as she was, Dianne was also fiercely protective of those she loved. Her strength, grace, and love knew no bounds.

Outside of the home, Dianne worked as a secretary for Ainsworth Door Inc. for many years. She enjoyed growing flowers, cooking and baking, and traveling; but most of all, she cherished time spent with her friends and family. She loved entertaining, whether it was hosting a card night or gathering everyone around a bonfire on Ruby Island. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by those she loved.

Dianne is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, William J. Ainsworth, Sr.; her children, William (Jennifer) Ainsworth, Jr., Rebecca (William) Schieman, Ronald (Michelle) Ainsworth, and Deanna (Michael) Sprague; her cherished grandchildren, William III, Janelle, Mallory, Brandon, Tyler, Austin, Julia, Michael and Trevor; five great-grandchildren; three siblings, Saundra Ainsworth, Daniel (Sandra) Sheffer and Nancy (Ted) Albert; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Mackenzie Schieman; great grandson, Jacen Ainsworth; and brother-in-law, Richard Ainsworth.

A time of sharing will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. James Howard will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron.
