Richard W. "Rick" Kinert

Richard Walter “Rick” Kinert, 75 of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Port Huron died Thursday, March 5, 2026 after a brief illness.

He was born August 9, 1950 in Port Huron to the late John and Stella Kinert.

Rick was a 1969 graduate of Port Huron Northern High School. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1974 and was stationed in California. Rick was employed with Cargill Salt for many years and retired in 2015. He was an avid sailor, member of the Port Huron Yacht Club and co-owner of the sailboat Saminna and enjoyed spending time with his yacht club family. Rick loved spending time with his family, his pets, and living on the St. Clair River. He was always willing to lend a hand and would do anything to help someone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kinert; children, Kim (Jerimiah) Allison, Summer Kinert and Rick Kinert II; grandchildren, Whitney, Brett, Austin, Nelson and Aiden; two great grandchildren, Sutton and Holden; siblings, Nancy Jo Sampier and Jim (Karen) Kinert; sister-in-law, Nancy Brothwell Moak; many nieces and nephews; and his Saminna boat crew and extended family at the Port Huron Yacht Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beth Kinert; siblings, John and Theresa Kovach; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Helen Moak; and brother-in-law, Bill Moak.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Inurnment will in the Riverlawn Columbarium, Marysville.
