Milan McIntyre

December 20, 1935 to March 20, 2026

Milan G. McIntyre, Sr., 90, of Fort Gratiot was promoted to Glory on Friday, March 20, 2026.

He was born December 20, 1935 in Burtchville, to the late Charles and Edith McIntyre. He met the love of his life Phyllis June Bilger while attending Port Huron High School. He graduated in June of 1953, and the couple got married July 20, 1956, at Mills Memorial Church.

Shortly after, the couple moved to Dover, Delaware where Milan proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. The day following his honorable discharge, his son, Gil was born.

Milan worked at Michigan National Bank for over 30 years and spent some time with Heath Snowmobiles in Richmond which began his passion of snowmobiling. He also used his accounting skills to serve his community as the Treasurer of the Port Huron High School Band Boosters, Blue Water Brass, Port Huron Athletic Club, Ross Bible Church Board, WNFA Christian Radio Board as well as serving on the board of Good News Camp. He also volunteered for many years for Operation Transformation Family Night. Never one to let the grass grow under his feet, Milan started McIntyre’s Home Maintenance in his retirement years with the purpose to serve widows.

He enjoyed many years of snowmobiling and camping with family and friends. There wasn’t a dog that Milan didn’t stop to love on and give treats to. He is fondly remembered as ‘Smilin’ Milan’ or ‘Just Dandy’ and could often be seen with a toothpick in his mouth. Above all, he was so proud of his family and was a true example of a loving, Christian family man.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Phyllis; his son, Gil (Lisa) McIntyre; three daughters, Sharon (James) Loznak, Colleen (Brian) Jergenson and Janette (Kenneth) Berish; eight grandchildren, Abby (AJ) Mida, Nolan (Catherine) McIntyre, Benjamin (Lindsay) Loznak, Tina (Scott) Suchecki, John Carlson, Mitchell (Anna) Carlson, Noah Jergenson and Caroline Berish; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Loraine and Orville Smith and brother, Raymond McIntyre.

A memorial service to honor the life of Milan will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Reverand Brian Ake will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

A private family burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot.
