Darren G Baker
Darren George Baker, 65, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
He was born July 20, 1960 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Robert and Shirley Baker. He married Christine D. Piechowiak on August 1, 1981 in St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church.
Darren proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard as an engineer for four years, stationed in Fort Pierce, Florida and later at the Port Huron Lighthouse station where he met his wife, Christine. They went on to spend 15 years in Naples, Florida, where he became a journeyman electrician and welcomed the birth of his two daughters. Darren was a dedicated member of IBEW Local 58 until his retirement. He was also active in the Lexington/Marysville Masonic Lodge and was instrumental in organizing the popular fish fries at the Lexington Lodge. In his free time, Darren was a motorcycle enthusiast, NASCAR fan, and enjoyed watching horse racing.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Christine; daughters, Alexis Baker (Matthew Miller) and Jessica (Jeffrey) Young; granddaughter, Naomi Miller; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Shere Holleman and Kimberly Wallaker.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 in St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Area Humane Society or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
