Hal Johnson
Harold Edward “Hal” Johnson, 70, of Port Sanilac, died Sunday, July 5, 2026.
He was born July 9, 1955 in Highland Park to the late Gerald and Marion Johnson. He married Melissia “Missy” Kubisch on December 2, 1978 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Emmett.
Hal owned and operated Gerry’s Distributing Company with his father for many years and was a 3rd generation beer wholesaler. He was a member of Knights of Columbus #521, the Michigan Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association, and the National Beer Wholesalers. Hal loved boating and was active with the Florida Power Boat Club. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling, and getting together with family in Port Sanilac.
He is survived by his wife, Missy; two sons, Gerry (Amy) Johnson and Ian Johnson; two grandchildren, Beau and Arden Johnson; three sisters, Carol Postill, Charlene Peek and Lisa Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Lesia (Alex) Huston and Debby (Pete) Relken; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Marion Johnson; and his brother-in-law, Larry Peek.
Visiting hours will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Brad Forintos will officiate. Private family burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date.
