William F Schieman

William Fred Schieman, 77, of Grant Township, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012.

He was born May 16, 1935 in Port Huron to the late William F. and Dora Schieman and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Schieman was a long time men's clothing salesman in Port Huron and retired from George Innes Menswear. He was a graduate of Port Huron High School, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Charles Hammond American Legion Post #8. Mr. Schieman was an avid tennis player and enjoyed attending many area sporting events, especially those involving his children and grandchildren. During his tennis career, he won many tennis championships including the first Robinson Tournament singles and doubles open and the 65 and older doubles flight at the Robinson 50th anniversary.

He is survived by three sons, William (Beki) Schieman III, Erich Schieman and Kurt Schieman, and their mother, Karen Schieman; six grandchildren, Mallory, Brandon, Brett, Payton, Billy and Tori Schieman; two sisters, Betty Pollock and Nadine Massman; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Marion Schieman, Valerie Brown, Evelyn MacDonald and Lenore Pollock; and a granddaughter, MacKenzie Schieman.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.

Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Pallbearers will be Brett Schieman, Jay Massman, John Ange, Charles Hawkins, Trent Elliot and Patrick Janks.
