Kenneth Frank Stein, 78, of North Street died unexpectedly February 12, 2013 in Blue Water Hospice Home.

He was born April 26, 1934 in Wadhams, son of the late Frank and Eleanor Stein and was a lifelong resident. He married Vera Orluck on October 16, 1965 in Griswold Street Baptist Church.

Kenneth served in the U. S. Army. He owned and operated Stein’s Texaco and Towing from 1958 to 1991 and the Wadhams Car Wash from 1977 to 1989.

He loved and enjoyed his cabin in Mio and traveling out west to Wyoming with his son, Daniel, where they hunted mule deer and whitetail deer. He loved cutting grass and cleaning out the woods on his property and also loved his dogs.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Vera J. Stein of North Street; and sons of whom he was very proud of, Daniel Kenneth Stein and Michael Frank Stein, both of North Street; brothers, Robert (Bunny) Stein of Kimball and Joe (Leona) Stein of Mt. Morris; sister, Ruthann (Jerry) Chrivia of Kimball; sister-in-law, Carol Stein of North Street; brothers-in-law, Alfred (Delphine) Orluck of Fraser and Ernie (Sharon) Orluck of Leesburg, FL; step-son, Billy Eschker of Smith Creek; loving dog, Willy; best friends, Chuck (Suzanne) Gray of Kimball, Marvin (Jan) Gerlach of North Street, Don Weston of Kimball, Jim Holzberger of Newberry, MI, and Ty (Robin) Bradley of Mears, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Phillip Martin Stein.

Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, February 16, 2013 in Griswold Street Baptist Church. The Rev. James Pettit of Griswold Street Baptist will officiate. Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Association.

Visiting will be from 2 pm to 8 pm Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 10am till the time of service Saturday in the church.

Pallbearers for Kenneth will be Duane Stein of Jacksonville, FL, Billy Eschker of Smith Creek, Robert Foglesong of Burtchville, Stoney Stein of Marysville, and David and Lehman Orluck of Shelby Twp. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Gray, Martin Stein, Don Weston, and Marvin Gerlach.

Memorials for Kenneth may be directed to the Salvation Army or the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
