Gordon D. Brown, 73, of Port Huron died February 12, 2013 in Port Huron Hospital after a short illness.
He was born January 14, 1940 in Detroit. He married Helen M. Gareau on November 3, 1984 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2003.
Gordon was a 1957 graduate of St. Stephen High School and he retired from the U. S. Navy after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion, Charles Hammond Post 8. He enjoyed working with model trains, puzzles and his 1931 Model A.
Gordon is survived by his brother, John T. (Marilyn) Brown of Port Huron; daughters, Laurie A. Shilling-Welsh of Lakeport, Nanette Shilling-Boles of Merritt Island, FL and Bethany Shilling-Jones of Ft. Gratiot; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four cats; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Irene Brown and brothers, Carl and Dennis.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10 am Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Association.
Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9 am till the time of service Tuesday at church.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
