Elton R McKenzie

Elton R. McKenzie, 88, of Port Huron died Sunday, February 17, 2013 unexpectedly in his home.
He was born August 12, 1924 in Port Huron son of the late Robert “Mac” and Irene (Willits) McKenzie and has been a life-long area resident.
He married Carolyn J. Duncan on November 23, 1946 in Gratiot Park United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2003.
Elton was employed for many years in the family grocery store “McKenzie's Market”. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Wirtz Manufacturing in 1988. He was a former member of B.P.O.E. #343 and enjoyed playing euchre.
He is survived by his three sons, Duncan J. McKenzie of Chicago, IL, Scott R. McKenzie of Las Vegas, NV and Mr. and Mrs. Brian R. (Jill) McKenzie of Grand Blanc; two grandsons, Collin and Sean McKenzie; sister-in-law, Lynn (Anthony) Sullivan of San Francisco, CA; three nephews, Sean and Quinn Sullivan, Fred Stanley, niece Becky Salisbury and companion Eloise Warwick.
Elton was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Stanley.
Funeral services will be 11am Friday, February 22, 2013 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Chapman will officiate.
Visiting hours are 5-8 pm Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorials in memory of Elton may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice
