Peg Dooley
July 14th, 1925 to February 20th, 2013
Blanche “Peg” Audrey Putman- Dooley, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
She was born July 14, 1925 in Cincinnati Ohio, the eldest of four children born to the late Blanche (Herzog) Putman and Francis “Frank” Putman.
She married Timothy Eugene Dooley in 1948. He preceded her in death on September 21, 1986.
Peg graduated from Hughes High School of Cincinnati in 1942 and from Deaconess Hospital’s nursing program in 1946 and was a R.N. and Nurse Manager at Port Huron Hospital until her retirement in 1987.
She was a gifted seamstress and knitter and her family and friends continue to enjoy her gifts. She enjoyed immensely her friendship with her sewing group.
Among the greatest blessings of her life were her friendships with her fellow nurses, especially Margaret “Jo” Boddy, and Patricia “Pat” McLellan.
She is survived by eight children, Kevin, Timothy, Maura, Ann, Brian, Margaret, Kathleen and Mary; 10 grandchildren, Dan Dooley, Emily Noetzel, Charles, Tedd, and Bridget Dooley, Timothy Hunter, Laura Baird, and Margaret, Ann and Thomas Kaechele; five great grandchildren, Amara, Delaney and Alana Dooley, Hannah Ash and Alicia and Andrew; and one great-great grandchild, Mya Hammar; two brothers, Frank Nelson of Cincinnati and Harry Putman of Phoenix AZ. She was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Putman.
Memorial services will 1 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Lee Acervo, pastor of St. Edward on-the-Lake Catholic Church will officiate.
Visiting hours will be 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.
Memorials may be given to the American Juvenile Diabetes Association.
