Theodis Ellis

Theodis “Odie” Ellis, 64, of Port Huron, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, March 18, 2013.
He was born May 29, 1948 in England, Arkansas, to the late John and Essie Ellis.
He was raised in Port Huron, graduated from Port Huron Area schools and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was enjoying his retirement with his wife and family after working 20 years for Chrysler Corporation. He loved playing chess and watching sports. His favorite teams were U of M and the Chicago Bulls. Theodis was a husband, father, brother, and “Papa” who loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; four children, Sonjia (Randy) Davis, Theodis (Melanie) Ellis, Angela Ellis and Mark Ellis; seven siblings, Thelma Palmer, John (Jean) Ellis, Charles (Lisa) Ellis and Nicky Ellis-May, all of Port Huron, Carol Ellis of Chicago, Virginia (Charles) Brady of Emmett, and David (Jackie) Ellis of Southfield; eight grandchildren, Di’Mond, Da’More and Destyne Davis, Annissa, Theodis, and Emma Ellis, Marcus Gilson and Bentleigh Clark.; several nieces and nephews; two great grandchildren, DeAnthony Billy and Rashad Carrothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Essie Ellis; a brother, Perry Ellis; and two special friends, the late John Francis and Jerry Caldwell, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Alex Crittenden will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Military honors will be held under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
