Wanda J. Castello, 84, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, after a short illness.
She was born January 6, 1929 in Cuba City, WI to the late Allen and Winifred Peacock of Port Huron. Wanda married Nicholas F. Castello in April of 1951 at St Stephen Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1977.
She worked for the St. Clair County Health Department. She loved her bridge club friends, the Red Wings, Michigan State and University of Michigan.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah A. (James) Sommerville and Janet M. Castello; son, Richard J. (Bambi) Castello; the loves of her life, her 6 grandchildren: Jessica L. Castello, Kristin M. Samuelson, Racheal N. Sommerville, Derek A. Samuelson, Ashley N. Castello and Janelle B. Sommerville; and her brother, Gary “Pat” Peacock.
She was also preceded in death by her son, David A. Castello; sister, Elaine Kersul and brother, John “Jack” Peacock.
A Mass of Resurrection will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church, Lakeport. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the service time Friday at church.
Memorials may be directed to the Friends of Burtchville Library or the Burtchville Twp. Fire Department.
