Russell C. Burkhardt, 91, of Lakeport, MI, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 surrounded by his family.
He was born September 17, 1921 in New Baltimore, MI.
Russell was a Navy veteran of World War II performing duties as a Coxswain. He was a member of the American Legion Post 416. He worked as a produce manager and carpenter. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, spending time with his family and had a special love for his dogs.
Russ will be sadly missed by his sister, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Pockett of Croswell, MI; daughters, Linda Baker (Ray) of Shelby Township, MI; Catherine Day (Eric) of Ypsilanti Township, MI; Judy Zola
of Scottsdale, AZ; and seven grandchildren, Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, of 18 years..
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Burtchville Township Cemetery. Visiting hours are 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or wishes of the family.
