Marjorie Louise Pettengill. 92, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2013, in her home following a short illness.
She was born May 11, 1921 in Port Huron. She married William J. Pettengill on October 14, 1950 in St. Stephen Church. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2010.
Marjorie was a 1939 graduate of St. Stephen High School and was class president. She attended Port Huron Business College and also Arizona College of Commerce. She began working at Mueller Brass followed by working as a secretary at Sun Life Assurance Company. Her favorite job was the traffic manager at WTTH Radio. She was also instrumental in its organization by the Port Huron Times Herald. Marjorie also worked at Peacock Lumber for several years.
She is survived by her children, Stephen (Patty) Pettengill and Kathy Jo Scott (fiance’ Donald Ramsey); grandchildren, Deanna Sanabria, Grant Scott III, Anthony Ortisi and Ryan Ortisi; her great grandson Austin Sanabria; sister; Virginia Norris; several nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marian Hubble and Charlotte Ford and her son-in-law, Grant Scott Jr.
A Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours are 3-9 p.m. Monday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at church. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
