Grace M Weiland

Grace Mercurio Weiland, 93, of Port Huron, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2013.
She was born December 9, 1919 in Port Huron to the late Paul F. and Rose Mercurio.
Grace was a lifelong Port Huron resident and was a teacher’s aide at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School for several years. She and her brother Joe Mercurio operated the first pizzeria in Port Huron. Grace loved cooking, and playing cards (especially Canasta) with her family. She loved dancing and was a very good dancer.
Grace loved being with her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known as a very kind, loving, generous and giving woman.
She is survived by her son, Gregory J. (Valerie) Duva of St. Clair; a granddaughter, Angela McConnell of Lake Orion, MI; a grandson, Damon Duva of Marysville; and eight great grandchildren, Drew, Reece, Luke, Maryn, Brynn McConnell and Dillan Duva and Kyle and Lexie Hepting; a step grandson, James (Karry) Hepting of Port Huron; and special friends, Ruth Minard, Marge Fowler, Keri Jenuwine, Wendi and Don Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Tony, Jenny, Mary, Jeanette, Chap and Joseph; and grandson-in-law, Donald McConnell.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 in St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Benedict Bikoyogue will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service in the church.
Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
