Joann V Campbell

Joann Verna Campbell, 89, of Port Huron, died Friday, August 2, 2013.

She was born April 25, 1924 to the late Verna and Michael Malane.

Joann entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Nazareth, Michigan on June 16, 1940 and was known as Sister Leo Trese. She left the order in August of 1972.

Joann received her B.A. degree in history from Nazareth College, her post graduate work in history at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Dayton, in Dayton, Ohio.

The schools that she taught at were; St. Henry in Lincoln Park, St. Joan of Arc in St. Clair Shores, St. Mark in Warren, St. Agnes in Flint, St. Phillip Neri and St. Rita in Detroit, St. Benedict in Highland Park, Port Huron Catholic, St. Christopher in Marysville and Ward Cottrell in Marine City.

Joann married Erwin Campbell on March 31, 1975, he died November 2, 1993.

She is survived by a step-son, Michael and (Judy) Campbell of Slidell, Louisiana; three step-grandsons, Craig (Marlissa) of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Mark and Kevin Campbell of Slidell, Louisiana; sisters, Betty J. Modelewska, Geraldine Rutkowski, Patricia Balogh, Theresa (Ralph) Bonin, Mary Richert, Frances Bonkoske, Judith (John) Anter, Marcia Irland, brother, William Malane and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Duczynski, Donna Czarnecki, Bernadine Noetzel and brother, Michael E. Malane.

Mass of Resurrection will be 11am Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, St. Clair.

Visiting hours are 10am until service time Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions in memory of Joann may be given to the Sisters of St. Joseph, Nazareth, Michigan.
