Robert A Hepting
July 4th, 1918 to September 6th, 2013
Robert A. Hepting, 95, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 after a short illness.
He was born July 4, 1918 in Phoenix, MI to the late Joseph A. and Adaline Hepting. He married Frieda Augusta Jahn on September 16, 1939. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2007, after 67 years of marriage.
Bob was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945. He fought in the Battle of Okinawa. He retired from Acheson Colloids, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Port Huron and loved to garden. He started golfing at 68 years old and had two hole-in-one rounds. He also enjoyed bowling until age 92 ½. Bob bowled a 728 series at the age of 92.
He is survived by his son James Hepting (Debbie Martiny); daughters, Gloria (Bill) Austin and Sandra Green; grandchildren, Lisa Brain, Brian (Darlene) Hall, Jamie (Karry) Hepting, Rob Brain and Barry Austin; 5 great grandchildren and his very good friend, Margaret Graham.
He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Ricky W. Hall and his brothers, Jackie, Francis and Larry.
A Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brian Hall, Rob Brain, Jamie Hepting, Cody Brain, Kyle Hepting and Dick Hepting.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at church.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
