Margaret M. Hyde, 83, of Emmett Township, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 in her home.
She was born October 4, 1929 in Mecosta, Michigan. She married Raymond D. Hyde on April 19, 1952 in St. Joseph Church. He died on November 13, 2001.
Margaret was a resident of Port Huron since 1946 and was a 1947 graduate of Port Huron High School. She was an active member in the Daughters of Isabella for 60 years and served three times as Regent. She was also a very active member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Charles) Wilds of Emmett, Robert (Jeanne) Hyde of Fort Gratiot, Gregory Hyde of Lakeview, Colorado, Laurie Varty of Richmond, Susan E. Hyde of Fort Gratiot, Paula Gersdorff of Emmett, Christopher (Lisa) Hyde of Arvada, Colorado and Jennifer Hyde of Port Huron, 23 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; her brother, and her sisters, Helen Lehnert of Vassar, Michigan, Alice Lynch of Clarkston, Michigan, Rita Taylor of St. Clair Shores and Kathleen (Dave) Filener of Carson, California. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth and her brothers, Joe and Carl.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Emmett . Father H. Thomas Kuehnemund, will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the church.
Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Emmett. Mrs. Hyde’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
A Rosary will be recited by the Daughters of Isabella at 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
