Walter Teff

Walter L. Teff, age 79, of Port Huron, died Wednesday November 2, 2005 surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1926 in Dorchester, Iowa to the late Henry G. And Florence T. (Schwartzhoff) Teff. He married Marvis J. Olson on March 18, 1961. Walt served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-53. He graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Detroit earning his B.B.A.. He served for thirteen years as Director of Business & Finance for the St. Clair County Intermediate School District and had over twenty years of experience as a financial executive in electronics and computer industries. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, B.P.O.E. #343 and Catholic Social Services where he served on the board of directors. He volunteered at United Way of St. Clair County and enjoyed his grandchildren, politics, gardening and the Detroit Tigers. He is survived by his wife, Marvis J. Teff of Port Huron; daughter, Catherine (Edward) Urban of Fort Gratiot; sons, Gregory (DeAnn) Teff of South Lyon and Stephen Teff of Port Huron; daughter Susan (Richard) Rapp of Harrison Township; his grandchildren Emily & Edward Urban, Patrick, Christopher & Daniel Teff; sisters Lucille Teff of Reno, NV; Carol (Rodney) Shroyer of Reno, NV and Patricia Price of Waterford. Walt was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Simeon T. Iber will officiate. Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening. Pallbearers will be Patrick, Christopher and Daniel Teff, Edward Urban, Richard Rapp and Richard Rapp, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Urban and Dr. Victor Amato.
