Phyllis Hayner

Phyllis Lorraine (Daly) Hayner, beloved mother, formerly of Port Huron, died at the age of 83 on Saturday, November 5, 2005 in Medilodge of Monroe, Michigan of a heart attack. She was born May 9, 1922 in Port Huron to the late Gaylord Thomas and Viola Louise (Kelley) Daly and was a resident of Port Huron until 2003. She married her sweetheart, Glenn Hayner on August 31, 1941 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Port Huron. He preceded her in death March 7, 2004. Phyllis lived with her Aunt Iva and Uncle Hubert Rood after the loss of her parents in 1934 and 1935. She attended Fillmore and Garfield Schools and graduated from Port Huron High School in May, 1940. She worked at Clark's Music Store where she taught Hawaiian guitar and accordian. She met her husband Glenn while teaching at the store. She was very active at her church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church and was past president of the St. Anne's Guild and the Blue Water Convocation. She also served as a past president of the Fillmore P.T.A. and the Mueller Brass Quarter Century Club. Phyllis was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She made her home in Medilodge of Monroe, Michigan for the past two years. While there she enjoyed playing cards, bingo and was active in the sewing club. Phyllis is survived by her sons, Mervin (Kathie) Hayner of Boerne, TX and Kraig (Marian) Hayner of Monroe, MI; four grandchildren, Tammie Hagman of Hurst, TX, Tina (Tom) Selling of Manistique, MI, Mervin, II of Boerne, TX and Rebecca (Samuel) Hayner; two step-granddaughters, Renee and Sharon; eight great grandchildren, Amanda, Candice, Connor, Destinee, Bryan, Haven, Morgan and Kaylie and three step-great grandchildren. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Geraldine, brother, Mervin and a granddaughter, Tracie Hayner. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2005 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The Very Rev. Charles E.N. Hoffacker, Rector will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 8th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and on Wednesday at St. Paul's Church beginning at 10 a.m..
