Michael Kusina

Michael P. "Doc Mike" Born January 2, 1922 in West Rutland, Vermont as "Metchilaf" Kusina. He lived in Mt. Clemens for 35 years then shared residences in Palm Bay and Sebastian Florida. Michael passed away peacefully in Lapeer, MI surrounded by family on November 8th, 2005 at the age of 83. Michael was the loving husband of Cecilia J. for 53 years and the inspirational father of Michael A. (Susan) of Walled Lake, Robert J., and JoJean (Thomas) Riley of Lapeer, Michigan. Grandchildren Robert R. Kusina, Tony (Traci) Kusina, Meghan and Nikole Riley and several nieces and nephews. Brother to Theodore (Helen) and Stephen (Janine). He was predeceased by sister and brother-in-law Stella (Joe) Golec. Dr. Kusina is a retired biochemist from Sivad Bio Research Company. He was Vice President and National Sales Director of Sivad, in which he shared his passion and motivation for living. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and received the WWII Victory, the Asiatic-Pacific and the American Theatre Medals. "Doc" as everyone called him, will be remembered for his vibrant and cheery personality, his passion for life, and his heritage, which he was very proud of. He gave his all, whether it was ushering for many years at church, working endless hours to provide Catholic education for all three children, or volunteering with Ceil on numerous charitable events. Michael was also Past President of Kiwanis and Past Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. At the age of 70, Michael was a volunteer fireman at the Micco Fire Department with his son Robert and in Sebastian Florida, he was a member of the Polish American Club. Michael will be missed by numerous people... he touched so many lives. His family honors the memory of Michael and invites you to visit and share in the celebration of his life at St. Louis Catholic Church, Clinton Twp at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 19th, 2005 with family visitation at 9:00 am.
