Eugene 'Jeep' Holob
December 18th, 1925 to March 8th, 2007
Eugene Holob, age 81 of Port Huron died Thursday, March 8 at home. He was born December 18, 1925 in Detroit. During World War II "Jeep" served on a B-17 in the 3rd Air Rescue Squardron of the 5th Air Force in the Pacific Theatre. He married Mary Skala on April 26, 1947. An electrician by trade, he retired from the General Dynamics Tank Division in 1991 and moved to Reading, Michigan to enjoy Mead Lake, Amish pies and his cat Spot. Throughout his life Eugene was an avid collector of American Flyer model trains. He also loved Polish food, Polka music and attending polish Festivals. He is survived by his wife Mary of Port Huron; three children, Betty (John) Cokonougher of Yale, Edward Holob of Hazel Park, Arlene Engel of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Fr. Brian Cokonougher of Port Huron, Joseph Cokonougher of Manvel, Texas and Daniel Cokonougher of Port Huron; several nephews, nieces and their families. Visitation will be Sunday, March 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Karrer - Simpson Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 am Monday at St. Stephen Church with the Reverend Brian K. Cokonougher officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
