Phyllis Cichoracki

Phyllis "Elaine" Cichoracki, 85, of Port Huron went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital with her family by her side following a lengthy illness. She was born April 10, 1922 in Jackson, Michigan and has lived in the Blue Water area most of her life. Elaine married Edmund P. Cichoracki on August 12, 1944 in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1994. She was a 1940 graduate of Port Huron High School and attended Detroit Mercy College. Elaine was a founding member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was very active in the parish. She sold Avon for many years, enjoyed gardening, playing bingo and spending time with her family. Elaine is survived by her son, Glenn (Leslie) Cichoracki of Port Huron; Daughters, Maggie (Philip) Dehring of Richmond and Debbie (Donald) Plaut of Clyde; grandchildren, April Reaume, Glenn (Julie) Cichoracki II, Stacie (John) Swamba, Brooke Cichoracki, Michael Dehring, Madison Plaut, Lucas (Laura) Hayman and Cody Hayman; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Gertrude Vining and sister Barb Proctor. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev James E. Commyn, pastor of St. Lucy's Parish, St. Clair Shores will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. A rosary will be recited Wednesday evening. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and sons-in-law, Glenn Cichoracki II, Michael Dehring, Lucas Hayman, Cody Hayman, Donald Plaut and Philip Dehring. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or the Blue Water Area Humane Society.
