Joseph Eastwood

Joseph L. Eastwood, 84, of Port Huron died Saturday, August 25, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital following a short illness. He was born October 8, 1922 in Detroit son of the late Russel M. and Veronica M. (Alpin) Eastwood. Joe married Shirley J. Lepien on June 1, 1946 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2001. Mr. Eastwood served in the United States Navy during W.W.II in the areas of the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans. He retired from the Port Huron Police Department in 1984 after 36 years of service. Mr. Eastwood moved through the ranks from patrolman to Detective before retiring as Chief of Police. He is survived by his son, Timothy (Carol) Eastwood of Epworth, Ga; daughter, Karen (David) Lewandowski of Port Huron; sons, Thomas (Barbara) Eastwood of Young Harris, Ga; Daniel (Laura) Eastwood of Port Huron; daughters, Ellen Barclay of Grand Rapids; Paula (Jim) Evers of Ann Arbor; son, Michael (Andrea) Eastwood of Marysville; 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and his sister Ellen Washington of Mt. Clemens. He was preceded in death by his brother Gerald Eastwood. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Tuesday until service time. Memorial services to celebrate the life of Joe will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Mary Ann Stackpoole officiating. Military honors will be held under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
