Vivian Smith

Vivian L. Smith, 83, of Port Huron went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 29, 2007 in Marwood Nursing and Rehab. She was born December 8, 1923 in Grosse Pointe and has been a life long area resident. Vivian married Gerald E. Smith on February 10, 1945 in New Mexico. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1998. Vivian and Jerry greatly enjoyed spending time with their entire family and following the many activities of all their children and grandchildren. She was a life master duplicate bridge player and enjoyed teaching bridge from beginners to advanced. She was a life long and founding member of St. Mary's Church. She is survived by her children, Craig G. (Vicki) Smith of Fort Gratiot; Leslie R. (Janet) Smith of Port Huron; Everine L."Renie" Shannon of Ruby; Robert A. (Mary Jo) Smith of Port Huron; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and special cousin and life long friend, Everine Unger of Juno Beach, Fl. Vivian was preceded in death by brothers Robert and Alan Leslie and sister Lillian Brackenbury. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Simeon T. Iber, Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9 a.m. Monday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Memorials in memory of Vivian may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
