John L. Bauer Marysville - John L. Bauer, 94, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 in Marwood Nursing and Rehab following a short illness. He was born July 3, 1913 in Port Huron and was a lifelong area resident. He married Jennie S. Kesner and together they celebrated 58 years of marriage. John retired from the Grand Truck Western Railroad. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army and spent 2 years as a prisoner of war. His hobbies included gardening and woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Jennie S. Bauer of Marysville; son, John (Ann) Bauer of Marysville; daughter, Rosemary (Rick Nelson) Jordan-Nelson of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jason Bauer, Andrea (Mike) Boucher, Justin Bauer, Benjamin Jordan and Joseph Jordan; sisters, Anna McIntyre, Stephanie Rock and Theresa Weiss and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael, Louis, Charles, Joseph and Frank; sisters, Molly, Mary and Clara. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted under the direction of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Visiting hours are 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the St. Clair County Department of Veterans Affairs DAV Van Program.
