Donald K Krenke

February 9th, 1924 to August 14th, 2013
Donald Keith Krenke, age 89, passed away on August 14, 2013. He was born in Port Huron to the late Edward H. and Maude Krenke. Don married Marie L.E. Treleaven on November 19, 1946.



Don enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 23, 1943; served as Sargent, XIX Corps, 554th, Battery “C” in charge of an Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battery. He landed on Utah Beach, participated in combat operations in northern France, the Netherlands, and into Germany during WWII. His unit received significant

commendations for their accuracy during battle. He was Honorably Discharged. Donald just received a letter from the Consulate of France with the “Thank you America” Award and Diploma and “Legion of Honor Medal”.



He worked for the Detroit Edison Company in the Marysville Power Plant for over 38 years. Don was active with the Port Huron Museum Guild. He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ. He loved golf and traveling.



Don is survived by his daughter, DonnaMarie (Jon) Block; brother, Edward (Martha) Krenke; sister-in-law, Dorothy (late Frank) Churchill; cousins, Howard (Eunice) Krenke; niece Dianne (Dennis Papp) Churchill and Leann (Warren) Henry; numerous Krenke & Churchill nieces and nephews and friends.



Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, at 11:00am at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Port Huron. Burial will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Black River Inn Adult Foster Care facility in Port Huron for their compassion and devoted care to Don.
