John B. Floody Flood age 75, of

Port Huron, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008 in Marwood Nursing &

Rehab following a long illness.

He

was born May 26, 1933 in New York and has lived here most of his

life.

John

was retired from Michigan National Bank and Sears. John was an

active member in the Port Huron Hockey Association for many years.

He was one of the assistant coaches for the Port Huron JayHawks,

under the coaches of Daryl McCaryl and Paul Jones. He also was

very active with Port Huron Northern, under the coaching of Billy

Warren and Marysville High School Hockey, under the coaching of Ron

Horne and recently he became an active supporter of the Port Huron

Big Reds where his adoptive grandson Danny Logan plays. Floody

as we all knew him was a kind, compassionate and loving man. He

was always there when someone needed a hand. Whether it was a ride to

and from hockey, a place to stay, or just someone to listen. John

never turned anyone away. He was a mentor to many young people

in the community. With Johns commitment to our hockey

community, he has encouraged many of the boys that he coached to give

back to hockey. If you look into the hockey community today,

you will see the boys that he coached years ago, giving back by

coaching their children. He believed that if you tried hard you would

succeed.

John

is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Graham of Warren; dear friends,

Mary Gosger of Port Huron, Lynn (Chuck) Logan of Port Huron, Lisa

(Dan) Owens of Dearborn, Jon (Katie) Gosger of Warren and Michelle

Gosger of Port Huron; his 9 adopted sons, Billy Warren, Dave Martin,

Chad Melms, Marty Haddad, Nick Deaner, Mike Emerick, Jimmy Feher,
