Mary A. Pettengill

Port Huron Mary A. Pettengill, 89, died Thursday, September 2, 2010 after a lengthy illness.

She was born November 9, 1921 in Sanilac County. She was married to Norman M. Pettengill for 47 years. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1987.

Mary was a 1939 graduate of Port Huron High School. She worked along side her husband Norm at their accounting business for 40 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and an avid golfer and bowler. Mary also volunteered her time at Port Huron Hospital.

She is survived by her children, Jack (Linda) Pettengill of Avoca, Robert N. Pettengill of Florida and Patricia (Louis) Wigginton of Illinois; grandchildren, Jack Jr. (Kim) Pettengill, Jolene (Shawn) Furman, Bob Jr. (Laura) Pettengill, Kristine M. Pettengill, Anne E. Pettengill, Becky Dragmiller, Sara Talbot and Jill Olsen; great grandchildren, Payton, Alec, Natalie, Jimmy, Jackie, Emily, Jake and Kayla; sisters-in-law, Betty Sabyan of California, Mary E. Pettengill of Port Huron and Marjorie Pettengill of Port Huron and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Stephanie Pettengill and brothers, Lew, Jay, John, Joe and Tony Sabyan.

Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Stephens Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
