Donald E. Roach
Donald Eugene Roach, 88, of Port Huron, died Thursday, July 19, 2018.
He was born May 2, 1930 in Fawn River Township, Michigan to the late Elmer and Josephine Roach, He married Grace Elizabeth Hall on July 9, 1949. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2014.
Donald served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a design engineer at Anker Holth, retiring after 25 years of service.
He enjoyed Keno, hunting, fishing and reading.
He is survived by two sons, Donald E. (Catherine) Roach and Douglas J. (Denise) Roach; his daughter, Julie A. (Robert) Brettin; seven grandchildren, Amy Roach, Adam (Megan) Roach, Joshua, Joseph, Christopher Brettin (Cara), Jeremie (Melissa) Brettin and Jacquelyn (Matt) Glover; 6 great grandchildren, Lucas, Aiyanna, Lana, Lillian, Karsyn and Godric; his sister, Joyce (Herb) Bringard; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Roach; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Roach.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Donald R. Doerzbacher will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Inurnment will be in Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium.
Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice or Visiting Nurse Association.
Don really appreciated the great care provided by the Visiting Nurse Association and Blue Water Hospice. Special thanks to Tiffany, Dawn, Mindy, and as Don referred to her “my Kim”. Don really enjoyed the time spent with his friend, Jacob, from Visiting Angels.
