Barbara Ann Rumley
August 21st, 1931 to February 28th, 2011
Barbara Ann Rumley left this world to be with God, on February 28, 2011, after a long illness. She was born on August 21, 1931 to Rosalie and Paul Beatty in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Gesu Elementary and Immaculata High School in Detroit Michigan. She married John Grant Rumley on November 10, 1951- he preceded her in death on August 28, 1999.
Barbara was the rock , the very strong foundation of the Rumley family. She was a tough lady familiar with adversity but never beaten by it. She helped raise four kids and made sure they were instilled with a sense of integrity, duty, honor and love of family. Together, She and Grant (John) sacrificed and worked to put all the kids through Catholic grade and high school at great costs to themselves- - never did either complain. They believed in duty and the honor associated with vows.
She retired from E & A Credit after serving as a loan officer. She worked various part time jobs to keep busy and fund her vacation trips with her sisters. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Huron, active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society . She also volunteered at Port Huron Hospital. She was blessed to meet so many wonderful people in both of these organizations.
Life was not all work! She certainly knew how to have a good time and seized every opportunity to do so! She loved to travel and did as many bus tours with her sisters as she could. She was NEVER one to wallow in self pity, she would always get up and get moving which was even more remarkable as her health and stamina started failing.
She is survived by her three sons Jeffrey Rumley- Grosse Pointe, John (Karen) Rumley Fairfax, Virginia, Michael (Shelley) Rumley Marysville , Mi. She is survived by six grandchildren Matthew, Kevin ,Patrick , Grant, Spencer and McKenzie Rumley. She was preceded in death by John Grant, her husband and daughter Barbara Lynn Huffman. She has three sisters Bob (Charlene) McClear Avon Lake, Ohio, Marilyn Freda Westland, Mi., and Sharon Immonen- Albion , Mi. and Patricia (DEC.).
