David R. Korff

We are all given Time and Purpose, but time is less important if the purpose is a life well lived. If you really care about the world you live in and the space you inhabit within that world, you may have been a student of David Korff. Art isn’t just for Art’s Sake, it’s for Life’s Sake.

David Korff completed his journey on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, but his purpose continues for hundreds of students who now view the world through the eyes of artists and appreciators.

As Chairman of the Art Department at Lambton College, Sarnia, Ontario and later, Chairman of Visual and Performing Arts at SC4 he followed his Plan A for 45 years. There was never a Plan B. The Blue Water between Canada and the U.S. ran through his veins and influenced much of his work, which has been featured in many Galleries and Museums as well as private collections.

Communities are strengthened and enriched by creative thought, one individual at a time, joining together and giving back. As a founding member of the Port Huron Art Initiative as well as serving on the Community Foundation’s expansive Art Committee and Boards of the International Symphony and Port Huron Museum, David sought to challenge leaders and those around them. With his wife Katherine, the importance of education was paramount. Tutoring at risk children in reading has proven to be an important investment in the future of our community.

A life fulfilled is a life that accepts fulfillment. Through wife Katherine Korff, son Christopher Korff, daughter Kirsten Korff (Brian Tracy) grandson Liam Tracy, Michele Korff, dedicated mother of grandchildren Tyler and Laura Korff, the fullness of family was forged.

Cremation wishes have been honored with arrangements provided by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

As a Living Memorial for David and those you love, take your family to a concert. Picnic along the River Walk. Acclaim the blue of Lake Huron. Visit Museums and Galleries. Buy a piece of Art. Eat more pie!
