James S Gonder
James Sylvester Gonder Jr., 64, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
He was born September 29, 1956 in Mount Clemens. He married Sherry L. Mayhew on April 7, 1989 in Port Huron.
James worked as a machinist for Mapal Inc. for 23 years and retired in 2017. He loved riding his Harley Road King Classic and was known as a very generous man and would help anyone in their time of need. James served in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sherry; mother, Ethel Gonder; son, James Gonder III; grandchildren, Alexis, Ashley and Autumn Gonder; nieces, Sarah (Stephen) Card, Toni (Ted) Konkal, Hannah (Daniel) Rutkowski, Sophie (David) Marzolf and Athena (Larry) Lonsby; nephew Richard Rylander and many more nieces and nephews, great nieces, Oriona, Ellyona and Makaylee; great nephews, Anthony and Nicholas; brother, Theo (Debbie) Gonder; sister, Stephanie (Joe) Smith, and best buddy, Rupert. He was preceded in death by his son, Allen Gonder; and dear friend, Grace Brunson.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2021 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A limited number of people will be allowed in at a time. Please wear a mask for the safety and comfort of others.
A private family service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Randy Gearhart will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
