Ray Kemp, 82, met his Lord and Savior face to face on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, peacefully in the comfort of his home.
Ray was born February 18, 1939 in Port Huron, to the late Ray and Lucille Kemp. He married Joyce Mugridge on November 30, 1957.
Ray was a 1956 graduate of Port Huron High School. He was a contractor by trade and many families in the Blue Water Area are enjoying life in one of the houses he built. He was also involved in many projects in the area such as the conception and building of Glacier Pointe Ice Complex and the new sanctuary at Ross Bible Church, where he worshipped. Early in his career, he was also involved in the building of the McMorran Place Arena. Ray’s two sons and several of his grandsons proudly followed him into the construction business. Ray believed in a hard day’s work and a job well done.
Ray loved nature, going up north to his cabin, and in his later years, watching the sunrise at the 40th street pond. He loved traveling the world with his wife and close friends. Most importantly, he was proud of his family and loved them all, including his fur babies, Annie and Piper.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce; four children, Diane Moeller, Robert (Martina) Kemp, Susan (Gary) Guminski and Daniel (Tara) Kemp; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Joy Varty and Becky (Joe) Wolf. Ray was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Brian Moeller.
Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Sunday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Please wear a mask for the safety and comfort of others.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021 in Ross Bible Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Steve Scott will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Ray’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
