Elizabeth M Jenkins
Elizabeth Sansbury “Bette” (Mann) Jenkins passed away quietly on the evening of September 26, 2022 in the home where she was born on October 4, 1921, the youngest child of George and Harriet (DeMont) Mann.
Bette enjoyed playing Bridge, knitting, watercolor painting and was an avid reader. As an Army wife, she lived with her family in Germany, and while there she enjoyed visiting many countries throughout Europe, including one excursion on the famed Orient Express. Eventually the last military assignment brought her to Kent, Ohio. There she was an active member of the Anglican Church, Girl Scout Leader, member of Falls Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and Tree City Campers NCHA. Later she and Lynn moved to her family home in Port Huron.
Camping was a special part of her life. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout North America, first in a tent camper with small children in tow and later ‘snow-birding’ in El Centro, California in their motorhome.
She is survived by four children, Elizabeth G. Tullis, Suzanne C. Jenkins, Lynn E. Jenkins II and Josephine C. Jenkins; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Lynn E. Jenkins USA ret.; brother, William R. Mann; and two sisters, Mary E. Woodward and Josephine D. Davis.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
