Linda E Flickinger

December 15th, 1943 to February 11th, 2023

Linda E. Flickinger, 79, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly on Saturday February 11, 2023 after a short illness.

She was born December 15, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to the late Ralph and Dorothy Flickinger.

Linda did her undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Michigan. After her first job as a teacher at Longfellow High School in Flint, she moved to Port Huron to take a job at St. Clair County Community College. That job was the beginning of a 42-year career at SC4. Linda was an instructor of History and Psychology and was the Social Sciences Chair for many years. She was also well known and loved as a wine tasting instructor at the college. Linda was a longtime member and treasurer of Port Huron Musicale. She volunteered at McLaren Hospital for many years and was the secretary of the Hospital Auxiliary Board. She also was an active member of the SC4 Retirees Group.

She is survived by her dear friend, Nancy Niytray; sister, Mary Vanden Belt; niece, Anne Vanden Belt; two nephews, Benjamin and Nicholas Vanden Belt; great-nieces, Hannah and Michaela Clague and Gwyneth Vanden Belt; and great-nephew, Ronan Clague.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

There will be a private family burial in Flint.
