Marcella Marie Kivel, 91, of Port Huron, passed away quietly on Saturday, December 23, 2023 with her children by her side.
She was born July 21, 1932 in McGregor, Michigan to the late George and Marie McFarlane. She married Lee Kivel Jr. in July 1950. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1970.
Marcella graduated from Sandusky High School. She worked at JCPenney in Port Huron for 38 years. To know Marcella was to love her. She was a person that would do anything and everything to make someone’s day better. She loved people, and was a person with so much advice to give. Mom’s meeting place in the summer was in her garage with all her neighbors, whom she loved as well. She will be missed so much by everyone.
She is survived by her children, Dan (Debbie) Kivel, Debbie (Billy) Dubay and Dennis (Kelley) Kivel; grandchildren, Clayton Bills, Lee Kivel, Lainie Everson and Jason Yost; great grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart, Maggie, Marie Bills and Carla Avery; great-great grandchildren, Leo Avery and Lakeland Everson; sisters, Nila (Tim) Dreschler and Barbara (Lowell) Fritch; several nieces and nephews; and great niece, Nila LaShean. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lindsay Kivel; brothers, Wilson and John McFarlane; and son-in-law, Phil McCarty.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Celebrant Laurie Wilson will officiate.
Private family graveside services will be held.
