James Dykstra

James Dykstra, 86, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 after a brief illness.
He was born February 4, 1926 to the late Neil and Wilhelmina Dykstra in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
He grew up in Byron Center, Michigan and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946. Jim was a 1949 graduate of Michigan State University. He worked as a civil engineer with MDOT, other private engineering firms and as County Engineer in Arenac, County until his retirement in 1985. Jim was a member of the Port Huron Schubert Men's Chorus and the Marysville Coin Club for many years.
He is survived by his children, Paula of Ypsilanti, Tom (Cara) of Arnot, PA, William of Port Huron, Robert (Dianna) of Marysville and Daniel (Keri) of Dewitt; grandchildren, Kaylie and Emily Graham and Melissa Dykstra all of Marysville; sisters, Ann (Rex) Clawson, Jeannette Voss, Nell Dempsey and brother, John (Marilyn) Dykstra.
His beloved wife Margaret and brother Louis preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be 3pm Saturday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Keith Sparks will officiate. Visiting hours are 1pm until service time on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be given to Blue Water Hospice or the Port Huron Schubert Men's Chorus.
