Charles M "Charlie" Wheelihan

Charles “Charlie” McIntosh Wheelihan, 85, of Mussey Township, died Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

He was born July 2, 1940 in Port Huron to the late David and Erma Wheelihan. He married Kathleen J. Love on November 5, 1960 in Port Huron.

Charlie was a graduate of St. Stephen High School in Port Huron where he was an avid athlete and later an active leader and supporter for the St. Stephen Athletes Sports Reunion Committee. He worked in the transportation and logistics field his entire career, most recently as a Regional Sales Manager with Nationwide Transportation Services for 25 years until the day of his passing. He was an award-winning racquetball player, enjoyed his garden, farming, trails, and giving hayrides. On any given St. Patrick’s Day for the past 42+ years, he could be found in the back corner booth at The Brass Rail surrounded by family and friends. He loved his family fiercely and enjoyed telling tall tales to anyone who would listen. He enjoyed many pursuits, was a generous friend, and active in his church and community and will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Kathleen; children, Kathleen Wheelihan, Virginia (Ron) Badour, Deborah (Kurt) Wheelihan-Dasher, Charles (Beverly) Wheelihan III and Barbara (Scott) Bourgeois; grandchildren, Suki, Luke, Aiden, Sophia and Liam; sisters, Maxine Gwisdala and Teresa Bennett; and brother, Harold Wheelihan. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Wheelihan; and sisters, Veronica Wheelihan and Mary Ann Tetreau. Plus many nieces, nephews, and too many friends to name.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A time of sharing will be held at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Reverend H. Thomas Kuehnemund will officiate.

Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Kenockee Township. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
