Theresa Johns
Theresa Johns, 89, of Port Huron, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, July 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family that she cherished beyond measure.
She was born on May 5, 1937, in Hardine, Lebanon. She married the love of her life, Joseph A. Johns on May 22, 1955, at 18 years old. They came to the United States and together built a beautiful life in Port Huron, Michigan, where they owned The Beverage Shop and shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Theresa and Joe created a home rooted in love, resilience, laughter, faith, and family. Their doors were always open and their tables were always full of Lebanese food. Anyone who walked in as a stranger often left as family. Friends became family, family gathered often, and no one ever left hungry. It was hard to beat a Johns Christmas party.
To know Theresa was to love her. She had a fiery spirit that could light up any room, was a woman of strong faith, had a sharp wit that kept everyone laughing, and a heart that never stopped giving. She was strong, funny, fiercely loving, and never afraid to speak her mind. While she certainly enjoyed a trip to the casino, nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her family and friends. Her greatest fortune was never measured in winnings, but in the generations of people who loved her.
Theresa is survived by her daughters, Dianne, Kathy, and Lori Johns; her beloved grandchildren, Nicole Driver, Danelle Roberts (Pier Mucelli), Jamie Johns-Moore, and Alex Johns-Moore; her great grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as Tita; her brothers, Tony (Georgette) Assi, Joe (Chris) Assi; her sisters, Tamina Bechara and Najebi Dib of Lebanon; many nieces and nephews that span the globe; as well as many extended family members and countless friends whose lives were forever touched by her warmth, humor, and love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Johns; her son, Joey Johns; her parents, Farid and Farida Assi ;and her brothers, Eddie Assi of Sydney, Australia, and George Assi and sister-in-law, Marie Assi.
Theresa leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, perseverance, faith, and unconditional love that will continue to live on in each of us. She taught us the importance of family, the value of laughter, the strength to carry on through difficult times, and the beauty of loving with your whole heart.
Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she loved and missed so dearly. Her laughter will echo in our memories, her strength will continue to inspire us, and her love will forever remain woven into the fabric of our family.
Mom, Grandma, Tita, Aunt Theresa - thank you for every hug, every laugh, every lesson, every meal, every story, and every moment you gave us. You were the heart of our family, and there will never be another quite like you. We will carry your love with us always, until we meet again.
