Dean E Godbee

Dean E. Godbee. 76, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 from complications of an accident at his home. He was born April 11, 1937 in Leonard, MI to the late Cy and Mildred Godbee.

Dean was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He retired from TRW Automotive, Van Dyke on May 1, 2000. He played the tuba in the St. Clair County Community College Symphonic Band for more than 25 years.

He loved watching his grandkids play sports. He enjoyed golfing, liked to tinker and enjoyed his tractor. Dean spent many mornings at the north end Coney Island. He was also a member of Northgate Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Paul) Jenkins of Jacksonville, FL, Anna (Dave) Conley of Marysville and Vickie (Mark) Green of Marysville; son, Scott (Traci) Godbee of Climax, MI; his former spouse and friend, Ginger Western of Kimball; grandchildren, Steven, Alyssa and Nathan Green, Patrick and Marisa Conley and Addison and Kaden Godbee; brother, Dale Godbee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Andrew Jeffrey Green and an uncle, Ward Stoddard.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Conley, Mark Green, Scott Godbee, Steven Green, Patrick Conley and Mike Kuehn. Graveside military rites will be conducted under the direction of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans.

Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the St. Clair County Community College Symphonic Band.
