Natalie B. Thomas, 78 of Ft. Gratiot, died Saturday, June 3, 2006 after a brief illness. She was born March 26, 1928 in Detroit and has lived in the Port Huron area since 1949. Natalie married Andrew Hill Thomas September 24, 1949 in Grosse Pointe. He preceded her in death March 26, 2001. Natalie was a graduate of the University of Michigan and a member of Sorosis Sorority while in college. She was employed by the State of Michigan for several years both at the M.E.S.C. office and most recently, the Secretary of State branch office in Port Huron. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Port Huron Garden Club, Port Huron Golf Club, Body Recall of the Y.M.C.A. and the Merry Widows Group. Natalie was a very special person and anyone who met her will never forget her. She saw the humor in all facets of life and her laugh was infectious. She was loving and kind and was adored by family, friends and her grandchildren. She loved sitting on her beach watching all the activity on the lake. Natalie is survived by her children, Lucy (Allen) Gagstetter of Manistee, Andrea (Joseph) Hupert of Winston-Salem, NC, David A. (Pamela) Thomas of Ft. Gratiot and Jane (James) Herrmann of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, David and Mary Gagstetter, Katherine and Grace Hupert, Tayler and Matthew Thomas and Sarah, Emily, Mary and Anne Herrmann; her sisters, Lucy (Jack) Jeakle of Grand Rapids and Georgiana Richner of Grosse Pointe; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Douglas and Barbara Price of Port Huron and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Roxana Booker. Natalie's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Grace Episcopal Church. The Rev. Robert P. Trask, Rector will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Visiting hours for Natalie are 4 to 9 p.m. Monday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church Memorial Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
