John A. 'Jack' Peacock
July 12th, 1930 to January 5th, 2008
John A."Jack" Peacock, 77, of Port Huron died Saturday, January 5, 2008 in his home after a five month illness. He was born July 12, 1930 in Cuba City, WI but has lived in Port Huron since 1940. He married the former Pauline H. Holmes November 12, 1955 in Port Huron. Jack was a 1948 graduate of Port Huron High School. He attended Port Huron Junior College. During the Korean Conflict he enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Waldron. After discharge from service he began working at the family lumber companies, Kerr Lumber and Peacock Lumber Co. until it was destroyed by fire. He finished his working career at John's Lumber in Mt. Clemens. Jack was an active member and quartermaster of Charles Schoor Post #796, V.F.W., a member of the Tin Can Sailors, the Half Moon Society and St.Clair County Allied Veterans Council. He enjoyed the wonders and splendor of Michigan; he was an avid hunter and enjoyed snowmobiling and other sports. Jack is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pauline; his children, Kathryn (Joseph) Cowles of Ft. Gratiot, Susan (Henry) Neumann of Clay Twsp. and Paul (Tracy) Peacock of Burtchville; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dale) Bailey of Port Huron, Michael Cowles of Mt. Pleasant, Natalie May of Clay Twsp. and Heather and Alexis Peacock, both of Burtchville; his sisters, Wanda Costello of Burtchville, Elaine Kersul of Traveres, FL and his brother, Gary Peacock of Port Huron. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael John Peacock. His funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Church. Rev. Fr. Simeon T. Iber, Pastor will preside. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 7 to 9:00 p.m. at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and Tuesday at the church beginning at 9:15 a.m. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday. Memorials in Jack's memory may be made to the V.F.W. Building Fund or St. Mary Church Capital Campaign.
