John A.R. Regis, DDS, 82, of Lexington, formerly of Detroit, died Sunday, June 28, 2015 in McLaren - Port Huron, after heart failure.
He was born December 27, 1932 in Detroit, to the late Joseph and Angeline Rzeczkowski. He married Gloria F. Lepon, on January 13, 1962 in Detroit.
Dr. Regis attended St. Hedwig Catholic Elementary School in Detroit and was a 1951 graduate of the University of Detroit High School. He did his undergraduate by 1955 and graduated dental school in 1962.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Dr. Regis was in private dental practice from 1962 to 1992 in Detroit, and in Clinton Township from 1992 to 2003.
He coached for the Detroit Police Baseball Athletic League and St. John’s Ukraine Basketball Team. He was a soloist at McMorran Auditorium, the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts and was a member of St. Edward on-the-Lake Choir.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria F.; son, John F.; grandchildren, Marisa, John, Gloria and Ryan; his brother, Richard P. Regis, DDS; half nieces, Barbara Komoff, Claudine Sordyl, and Judy Williams; half nephews, Jay, and Glenn and Gary Sturm, and John Sordyl. He was preceded in death by half sisters, Jean Sordyl, Jeanette Echtle, and Lillian Sturm.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 12 noon Friday in St Edward on-the-Lake Catholic Church. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
Military honors will be held under the auspices of the U.S. Army.
Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
