Stanley Kamer

Stanley Kamer, 97, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, April 19, 2015.
He was born September 10, 1917 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late Peter and Victoria Kamer. He married Jane Yakima on May 13, 1950 and they moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where they resided for 55 years until moving to Port Huron in 2005. Mrs. Kamer preceded him in death on August 19, 2011.
Mr. Kamer served in the U.S. Army in New Caledonia and New Zealand during World War II. Following the war he was employed with Western Auto & HWI until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of the Legion of Honor Unit of the Shrine Mizpah Temple. He was also a member of the AASR, F & AM of New Haven, VFW Post 9500 of Fort Wayne, Indiana and the Port Huron Host Lions Club. He attended First Presbyterian Church, Port Huron.
He is survived by three children, Dr. Marshall (Shelley) Kamer of Fort Gratiot, Linda (Frank) Kamer-Walker of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Greg Kamer of Gig Harbor, Washington; four granddaughters, Julie (Peter) Comfort, Jennifer (Dr. Andrew) Carolan, Angela and Amy Kamer; and three great granddaughters, Kelly and Jane Comfort and Linden Carolan.
Visitation will be 3-5 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, 1720 Elk Street, Port Huron.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church. Reverend Jason Pittman will officiate.
Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the Veterans Honor Guard Alliance and the U.S. Army.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, First Presbyterian Church, or the Port Huron Host Lions Club.
