John D. McKinlay

Port Huron- John D. McKinlay, 79, of Port Huron, died Monday, October 25, 2010 in his home following a long illness.

He was born August 25, 1931 in Sarnia, Ontario and has lived here for the past 46 years.

He married Anna May Lewis. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2003.

John was a proud member of Iron Workers Local #25 for more than 30 years working on the steel until the age of 69. He was passionate about his Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and rode every Monday with a large group of friends and every other day it wasn't raining. He was a very caring man and family always came first especially his grandchildren. He was always there for his neighbors.

He is survived by his daughter, H. Rose Drummond of Sedona, AZ; daughter, Patricia (Gerald) Johnston of Port Huron; grandchildren, John Harrison of Wausau, WI; Marcella (Scott) Dupuie of Marysville; Melissa Waters-Mango of Port Huron; Katelin Johnston of Port Huron; Jenny Johnston of Port Huron; Anna Harrison of Pensacola, FL and Rose's children Patricia and Michael; step-grandchildren, Mary Johnston of Port Huron;Michelle (Hugh) Wiley of Port Huron; Dennis (Kimberley) Johnston of Port Huron; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Floyd, David, Donald, Russell (Colleen) and LaVerne McKinlay; sisters, Ida Cushman and Eva McNair; close cousin, Kenneth McKinlay and special friend Lessie McMullin.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Harrison; sisters, Evelyn Gould and Katherine Clark.

Funeral Services will be 11 am Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Deacon John Connors will officiate. Burial will be in Ruby Cemetery.

Visiting hours are 5-8 pm Wednesday and 2-4 & 7-9 pm Thursday in the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 7pm Thursday evening.

Pallbearers will be John Harrison, Scott Dupuie, Micheal Dupuie, Gerald Johnston, Steve Clyde and Todd Allen.

Memorials may be given to Blue Water Hospice.
