Arnie Ready
November 29th, 1938 to February 6th, 2011
Joseph Arnold Arnie Ready, 72 died peacefully on February 6, 2011, surrounded by family. He was born November 29, 1938 to the late Greta and Joseph Ready. He lived his entire life in Port Huron. Arnie married his High School Sweetheart, Mary Roelens October 15, 1960.
His religion and faith were of great magnitude to him. He was a member at St. Marys Catholic Church in Port Huron and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a carpenter for 50 years in Local 687 formally Local 1067; he was a strong believer in basic unionism and supporting American Workers by buying America Made Products. His love of country gave him great pride having been in the elite Marine All-Weather Fighter Squadron (AW-114) known as the Death Dealers. Subsequently, it fulfilled him to be a member of the American Legion (Post 8).
As a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Moose Lodge he enjoyed being supporting in any way that he could and socializing with other members
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Port Huron; son, Joseph Arnold Ready II of Port Huron; daughter, Michele Israel of Port Huron; 6 grandchildren Amber, Jacklynn, Jessica and Kristin Ready; Dylan Noble and Rachel Israel; 1 great grandson Gavin Anthony Noble. His two sisters Nan (Robert) Shaw and Janet Marks. He was the brother in-law to Hazel (Craig) Clark; Bob (Brenda) Roelens; Chuck Roelens and Sandra Fields. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Military Rites will follow under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
Visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. & 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the service time Thursday at church. A brief prayer service followed by a celebration of Arnie's life through the sharing of stories will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Church, Knights of Columbus or St. Vincent De Paul.
