Pete E. Garijo

Pete E. Garijo, 73, of Kimball, MI died May 17, 2011 in his home. He was born July 22, 1937 in Pamplona, Spain and has lived in the Blue Water area since 1973.
He married Judith A. Schlautmann on October 10, 1964 in Bronson, MI.
Pete served in the United States Army in Germany and was discharged in 1963. In his working career he had a variety of occupations in all fields of endeavor. He worked for the state of Michigan as a welder and inspector. He opened his own business, National Bridge Co., in 1985 and retired in 2010 due to illness. He made three mission trips with St. Christopher Church to Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic. Pete was a member of St. Christopher Church, BPOE # 343, Knights of Columbus Council # 521, and the Ruby Lions Club. He enjoyed golf, fishing and loved being surrounded by his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Judith A. Garijo of Kimball Twp., son, Dan (Lori) Garijo of Okemos, MI, daughter, Debra (Rick) Gillon of Florence, KY, son, Dave (Cindy) Garijo of Port Huron, son, Don Garijo of Holt, MI, grandchildren Ashley, Sydney, Nicholas, Jordan, Jacob, Jared, Austin Garijo, Ivy and Evan Gillon, sister, Esperanza (Raul) Jimenez of Pamplona, Spain, brother, Patxi Garijo of Pamplona, Spain, sister, Libe (Pat) McCauley of Reno, NV, brother, Javier (Robyn) Garijo of Reno, NV, sister, Anamarie (Tom) Smith of Winnemucca, NV, brother, Ignacio (Mary) Garijo of Winnemucca, NV, sister, Alicia (Jesus) Flamarique of Reno, NV, sister Mari-Sol (Dave) Bengochea of Winnemucca, NV and many nieces and nephews here and in Spain.
He is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Estefania Garijo, and a brother, Juancho Garijo.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday in St. Christopher Church. The Rev. Arthur R. Baranowski, Pastor will officiate.
Inurnment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bronson, MI at a later date
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Knights of Columbus Council #521 will recite the Rosary at 7 pm Friday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Pete's name may be made to the Blue Water Hospice Building Fund.
